Candy-Coated: Award-Winning Promotional Packaging
Some gifts don’t wait to be opened. For the 2025 holidays, Premier skipped the gift box and made the packaging the gift: an oversized vintage candy, delivered straight to clients’ doors. This promotional packaging went on to win Best Self-Promotion at the 2026 Print Excellence Awards.
The Gift Is the Package
No standard shipping carton. Just a giant vintage candy on the doorstep. Corporate gifting usually saves the surprise for what’s inside. This concept flipped that. The silhouette was the surprise. For a self-promotion piece, that first look matters most. It’s where a brand earns attention, and where packaging can say more than any note or gift tucked inside.

Built to Ship As-Is
Shaping a box into candy took custom structural engineering: twisted ends and a form that holds its shape once assembled. Because it shipped shrink-wrapped with no outer carton, every piece had to survive transit and arrive looking flawless. Sweet enough for the candy jar. Tough enough for the mail stream.
The Inside Story
Inside, the next generation of designers met the newest press on the floor. Clients found the four winning designs from Premier’s annual student-designed wrapping paper collection, plus a poster printed on the new HP Indigo 18K Digital Press. Seven colors (CMYK plus orange, violet, and green) let the press match up to 97% of Pantone colors. Rather than describe that range, the poster let clients see it and hold it for themselves.

Matched to the Wrapper
Two print processes, one consistent palette. Premier’s G7-certified color management kept the offset-printed box aligned with the poster from the HP Indigo 18K, matching the student wrapping paper so every piece felt like one gift. A nutrition-style label, Season’s Sweetenings, finished the bit with a serving size of “One Amazing Client”.
Too Sweet to Toss
With nothing between the box and its recipient, the reaction started the moment it arrived. From concept and engineering to printing, finishing, and direct-to-client delivery, every step was built around that first impression. The result? Promotional packaging that closed out 2025 on a sweet note and opened 2026 with a win.

RECOGNITION
The project was awarded Best Self-Promotion at the 2026 Print Excellence Awards, recognizing the combination of creative concept, print production, structural design, and brand storytelling.
