Soul Train Influencer Packaging

The BET Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show honoring the best in African-American culture, music and entertainment. Every year fans across the globe look forward to its soulful performances, tributes and special appearances from entertainment’s biggest stars.

At Premier we looked forward to something different – the months leading up to the event. It’s in this window where we got to push our creativity to the limits to design influencer boxes for 65 industry professionals and music insiders.

Paying Homage to 70s Roots

Named after the hit American music variety television show, Soul Train, it was only fitting that the influencer box be appropriately 70s themed.

Team Epiphany, the client, worked in tandem with our design team to acquire 70s themed items that we would then design the box around. The goal was to hand-select items that paid homage to the decade, all sourced from local black-owned business.

The items selected to be included were:

  • Record player that had the ability to play both large and small records
  • Set of speakers
  • Mix of vinyl records
  • Mix of 70s era Ebony Magazine
  • Book
  • Spices for cooking
  • Soul Train t-shirt
  • Block of crystal
  • Dried sage bundle

To truly pay homage to the decade, the Premier team went with an innovative packaging design – a suitcase. The suitcase box was crafted with a rainbow holographic stock, showcased the Soul Train Awards logo in foil metallic ink and fit with a leather strap for easy caring.

The inside of the box housed two separate compartments to hold each of the selected items. One compartment housed the record player, accompanying speakers and vinyl albums with custom made sleeve covers designed by the Premier team to match the vibe of the box.

The second compartment included the t-shirt, crystal, spices, sage bundle and all the paper items.
