Branded Merchandise Portal for a Portland Icon
A City Icon Worth Remembering
The MAX Type 1 has rolled through Portland since 1986. But for generations of Portland residents, it was never just public transportation. People rode it to school, to work, to concerts and sporting events, through neighborhoods they were just beginning to explore and ones they’d known their whole lives. For nearly four decades, the Type 1 was woven into the texture of daily Portland life in a way that few civic institutions ever are.
So when TriMet planned its retirement celebration, the city showed up. Over 3,000 attendees. Local media coverage. Strong community response. And a custom branded merchandise portal that proved this wasn’t just a transit milestone – it was a cultural moment worth marking.

Details Worth Collecting
Every item in the limited-edition collection was built to feel like a piece of Portland history. The custom enamel pin, commemorative poster, and heat transfer apparel weren’t designed as event extras, they were designed as keepsakes. Nostalgia-driven artwork and collectible-quality production gave each piece a reason to be held onto long after the celebration wrapped.
The collection came to life through two custom heat transfer apparel designs, a commemorative event poster that brought the visual identity of the train to life in a format made for framing, and a custom enamel pin that gave attendees something small, collectible, and uniquely Portland. These weren’t products. They were artifacts.
Stitched into the Story
The embroidered commemorative hat is a quiet nod to TriMet’s founding year and the legacy behind the brand. Details like this are what separate event merchandise from something people actually want to keep. Every production decision, from embroidery placement to apparel decoration, was made to honor that legacy and reflect the premium positioning the moment deserved.
When merchandise is built with this level of intentionality, it stops being a souvenir and starts being a connection — to a place, a memory, and a chapter of a city’s story that doesn’t come around twice.

Built for the Event
A custom-built branded merchandise portal (most items are sold out) connected the physical event to a mobile-friendly online merch store via QR code activation. Attendees could browse and purchase instantly on-site, or return to the portal after the event to order pieces they missed. The experience was intuitive, mobile-optimized, and built to feel like a natural extension of the celebration.
Some items in the collection sold out before the day was done. And because the portal lived beyond the event itself, the merchandise program continued working long after the event ended.
One Roof. Every Moving Part.
What made this program work wasn’t just the quality of the merchandise, it was the infrastructure behind it. Premier managed the entire ecosystem: custom merchandise production, branded merchandise portal development, inventory management, warehousing, fulfillment, and shipping distribution.
For TriMet’s team, that meant one point of contact, one streamlined process, and zero coordination gaps across vendors. No chasing down separate production partners, fulfillment houses, or monitoring shipping logistics. Premier handled it all from the first design concept to the last collectible pin shipped.
The warehousing and fulfillment side of this program is where that single-partner model paid off most. Inventory was tracked, managed, and distributed from one centralized location, giving TriMet real-time visibility into what was available and where it was going. As orders came in through the online merch store, fulfillment moved efficiently and accurately with every piece packaged, labeled, and shipped without the operational overhead that typically comes with a program of this scale.
That’s the PREMIER360 difference. Not just production. Not just a portal. A fully integrated merchandise ecosystem built to perform from concept through delivery.
