An Advent Calendar Designed Around Discovery

For Amazon Prime Video’s latest influencer advent calendar, the goal was to create a campaign packaging experience that felt unexpected from the very first interaction. Designed by Makelike and produced by Premier Press, the piece combined structural precision, bold color storytelling, and daily engagement into a highly engineered countdown experience.

At first glance, the exterior remained intentionally minimal—a monochromatic toolbox-inspired structure wrapped in rich blue uncoated stock with an integrated handle built directly into the design. Once opened, that restraint gave way to an explosion of color, revealing 30 individually designed compartments tied to different Amazon Prime Video shows and experiences.

The result was a piece built around contrast, interaction, and discovery encouraging recipients to return to the kit day after day throughout the month.

Minimal Exterior, High-Impact Interior

One of the most compelling aspects of the project was the balance between simplicity and surprise. The outer structure intentionally avoided excessive graphics or branding, relying instead on material choice, proportion, and construction to create a premium first impression.

The deep blue uncoated stock gave the kit a soft, textile-inspired tactile feel, while the integrated handle reinforced the toolbox concept without feeling overly literal. To achieve the desired look, Makelike provided physical stock and color references, allowing Premier to source and match PMS-colored materials that aligned closely with the intended palette.

Inside, the experience shifted dramatically. Brightly colored numbered compartments created a layered visual contrast against the monochromatic exterior, making the opening sequence feel playful, immersive, and highly collectible.

30 Compartments, Built for Daily Engagement

Inside the structure, recipients discovered 30 individually constructed boxes arranged across two layered tiers. Each compartment contained a different item tied to an Amazon Prime Video show, transforming the package into an ongoing month-long interaction rather than a single unboxing moment.

The varied sizing and asymmetrical arrangement gave the interior an intentionally dynamic appearance, feeling more like an organized collection of objects than a traditional calendar grid. Typography, numbering, and graphic treatments throughout the compartments subtly referenced ticketing systems, labels, and collectibles, reinforcing the feeling of discovery and interaction.

Each numbered box featured custom foil dies that added contrast and refinement while helping unify the experience across all 30 compartments.

Material Matching & Production Precision

Color played a major role in the success of the piece. Rather than relying solely on printed color, the project utilized custom selected colored stocks to create richer saturation and greater material depth throughout the packaging system.

Premier worked closely with physical samples supplied by Makelike to source uncoated stocks that aligned with the intended palette while maintaining consistency across the structure and internal compartments. The use of uncoated materials softened the overall feel of the kit, adding warmth and tactility that contrasted against the sharp geometry of the construction.

Foil numbering across each compartment introduced another layer of precision. Because every box required its own numbered die, consistency and registration across all 30 elements became critical to maintaining a cohesive visual system throughout the experience.

Packaging Designed to Extend the Experience

Projects like this demonstrate how structural packaging can become part of the entertainment experience itself. By combining thoughtful engineering, tactile materials, layered interaction, and bold visual contrast, the advent calendar created repeated engagement long after the initial delivery.

From custom-colored stocks and foil detailing to structural design and production execution, the final piece transformed influencer packaging into something recipients actively explored, revisited, and displayed throughout the season.
