Grön Cannabis-Infused Edibles Packaging

Grön. Swedish for green. Pronounced grewn. It’s one of Oregon’s largest producers of cannabis- infused edibles, founded in 2015, and “created to serve the needs of the community looking for a healthy and consistently dosed way to enjoy cannabis.” Today the company has grown to include over 60 edibles: chocolate bars, sugar-coated fruit-flavored Pearls, and candy Pips, available in a variety of THC and CBD ratios.

Cannabis- infused edibles is an extremely competitive business, with the added challenge that every state has different and ever-changing regulations. The companies who will win are the ones who can adapt quickly while maintaining a consistent quality brand.

Grön does that in every way. Their ingredients are organic, single-origin, Fair Trade Certified, and locally sourced whenever possible. The products look and taste premium. Even the packaging is designed to create an elevated customer experience.

Grön creative director, Aaron Mebisius, who worked with us in a previous life, knew the quality of our work, and he knew we had the capability to deliver the increasing quantities he was going to need.

We recommended a way to create the spot UV bubbles he wanted for the triangular-shaped Pearl boxes. We found a way to modify a die to accommodate more educational graphics. We figured out that we could meet both Oregon and Arizona regulations with the same dieline, saving time and money.

THC products are required to be placed in child-resistant packaging; one way to do that is to slip them into an opaque “exit bag” — an inelegant solution that we all wanted to avoid. So we devised a better way; for the Pearls, for example, the child-proof layer is a tube that holds the product inside the branded triangular-shaped customer-facing package. It looks really cool, and it complies with the regulation.
